While female-to-male transgender visibility has recently exploded in this country, conversations about trans issues in the lesbian community often run into resistance from the many queer women who view transitioning as a "trend" or as an anti-feminist act that taps into male privilege. Boy I Am is a feature-length documentary that begins to break down that barrier and promote dialogue about trans issues through a look at the experiences of three young transitioning FTMs in New York City--Nicco, Norie and Keegan--as they go through major junctures in their transitions, as well as through the voices of lesbians, activists and theorists who raise and address the questions that many people have but few openly discuss.

Film "Workshop" - is the result of processing a kind video diary of the activities of militants and activists in Minsk from May to October 2008 - a time when we believed in squatting in Belarus and were covered by the novelty and joy sometimes difficult experiences. The euphoria of what was happening is long gone. We analyzed the error and then have learned from it, took into account criticisms and made conclusions. We were actively looking for abandoned buildings last year, but not forgot the joint action - The workshop brought together many of us. But we are still aware of units of autonomous spaces, physical place of activity in our atomized society, and we intend to implement their desires in different ways. We are happy to share this experience with you, and would be happy if this would inspire someone to any collective endeavor, based on a desire to change themselves and life around for the better! Squat the world! Fuck the system! :) :)

Im niederbayerischen Hohenthann hat die Schweinemast in den letzten Jahren immer größere Ausmaße angenommen: Mittlerweile kommen auf etwa 4000 Einwohner 200.000 Mastschweine pro Jahr. Damit steht der Ort beispielhaft für eine Entwicklung, die auch vor Bayern nicht Halt macht: Die bäuerliche Landwirtschaft verschwindet, Großbetriebe entstehen. Von der Politik gefördert, exportiert Deutschland billiges Fleisch bis nach Indien und China. Die Leidtragenden sind die Anwohner der Mastbetriebe -- auch in Hohenthann.

Am Beispiel von Martha und Jake, zwei Personen, die sich zufällig über den Weg laufen, zeigt die Dokumentation "Das automatische Gehirn", dass über 90 Prozent unserer täglichen Handlungen unbewusst geschehen, wir also per "Autopilot" von unserem Gehirn gesteuert werden.
Aufwendige 3D-Animationen geben ungeahnte Einblicke tief in die Köpfe von Martha und Jake. Sie zeigen: Der Verstand ist schnell überfordert, wenn es darum geht, uns sicher durch den Alltag zu navigieren. Es ist erstaunlich, wie wenig Einfluss er auf unsere Entscheidungen hat. Wie tickt der Mensch wirklich?
"Das automatische Gehirn" begleitet Neurowissenschaftler in aller Welt bei ihren zum Teil verblüffend unterhaltsamen Experimenten: Allan Snyder lässt an der Universität Sydney im Dienst der Hirnforschung Streichhölzer legen. John Bargh in Yale beweist, dass die Stühle, auf denen wir sitzen, unbewusst unseren Verhandlungsstil bestimmen. Henrik Ehrsson in Stockholm bringt Testpersonen dazu, ihren Körper zu verlassen. Walter Mischel stellt in Stanford die Willenskraft von Vierjährigen mit "Mäusespeck" auf die Probe. In Phoenix, Arizona, erforscht das Wissenschaftlerpaar Susana Martinez-Conde und Stephen Macknik die Neurologie von Zaubertricks. Und in Berlin weist John Dylan Haynes nach, dass unser Gehirn bis zu sieben Sekunden vor uns Entscheidungen fällt. Nicht nur Allan Snyder ist heute überzeugt: "Bewusstsein ist nur eine PR-Aktion Ihres Gehirns, damit Sie denken, Sie hätten auch noch was zu sagen."
Mit Surf-Kameramann Mickey Smith begibt sich "Das automatische Gehirn" in der meterhohen Brandung vor Irlands Westküste auf die Suche nach der Macht menschlicher Intuition. Mit dem Gentleman-Dieb Apollo Robbins erliegt der Zuschauer auf dem Strip in Las Vegas der Magie des Unbewussten und erfährt, wie geschickt der Zauberkünstler die Aufmerksamkeit argloser Passanten manipuliert und ihnen wertvolle Dinge vom Körper "stiehlt". "Das automatische Gehirn" lässt durch Mitmachspiele und spielerische Tests jeden Zuschauer am eigenen Leib erfahren: Unser Gehirn ist es, dass uns ständig austrickst.
